March - Aquamarine
It seems that the month of March is already here. This month we focus on the gem stone, Aquamarine, the birthstone of March. Aquamarine derived its name from the Latin, Aqua Marina ‘water of the sea’ which does describe the colour hues of this gem, predominately light blues with hints of light green. It is said that Aquamarine gets its blueish tinge from the iron content of the gem, and it is considered that a sky blue gem is the most valuable. Aquamarine is actually a form of Beryl which also has Emerald in its family. Beryl is found in many locations throughout the world and does come in many colours.
Aquamarine is said to be very helpful to the wearer by helping creative expression and clarity in thought. It is also said to help evaporate fears or phobias and the light blue colour brings forth feelings of trust and harmony.
